There’s something extra special about sharing creativity with someone you love, especially when the project involves a little Halloween magic!
I recently sat down with two of my grandkids to put together the Stampin’ Up! Witchy Whimsy Hat Kit, and I’m not sure who had more fun, them or me! There was paint, ribbon, spiders, flowers, eyeballs, a little creative chaos, and plenty of laughter around the craft table. And while I absolutely love how our witch hat turned out, this project reminded me that sometimes what we make isn’t nearly as important as the memories we make while doing it.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of sitting at the kitchen table crafting with my grandmother. She helped spark my love of creating, and all these years later, those memories are still so special to me. I may not remember every project we made or exactly what supplies we used, but I remember how it felt to sit beside her and make something together. That’s a feeling I want to pass along to my own grandchildren.

Meet the Witchy Whimsy Hat Kit
Now, let’s talk about this fabulous witch hat!
The Witchy Whimsy Hat Kit makes one 14-inch-tall decorative witch hat, perfect for adding a little spooky whimsy to your Halloween décor or topping off a fabulous witch costume. It’s packed with classic Halloween fun—spiders, spider webs, black cats, and eyeballs—but mixes all that spookiness with rosettes, flowers, ribbons, lace, cheesecloth, and lots of whimsical little details. It’s spooky, a little quirky, and just plain FUN!
You will need a glue gun to assemble the hat, but otherwise the kit gives you what you need to create your own Witchy Whimsy masterpiece.
Come Craft With Us!
Of course, we had to turn on the camera while we were creating! In this week’s Christie Crafts YouTube video, you can join me and my two little crafting helpers as we put our Witchy Whimsy Hat together. You’ll see how all those spooky and whimsical pieces come together and, of course, some of the fun that happens when you put Nana, two grandkids, and a glue gun around the same craft table!
More Than a Witch Hat
Our finished Witchy Whimsy Hat will be a fun Halloween decoration to pull out each fall, but I think I’ll always love it most because of who helped me make it. Years ago, I was the grandchild sitting at the craft table with my grandmother. Now I get to be the grandmother on the other side of that table. So yes, I’ll proudly display our slightly spooky, wonderfully whimsical witch hat every Halloween. But the best part will always be remembering the two little people who sat beside me and helped make it. Because someday, that silly witch hat just might remind them of afternoons spent crafting with me.
